Instead of making BIG new year resolutions here are some simple things that you could incorporate into your life to get more out of it, making you happier and more interesting:
1. Become a RAKtivist
There are currently 22290 RAKtivists (Random Acts of Kindness activists) worldwide. Not only does kindness benefit others but it will also help your stress levels decrease, increase a sense of connectedness and help your immune system. It also requires no money and very little time. Try leaving a note on someone’s car commenting on how nicely they parked.
2. Become the Christopher Columbus of Sainsbury's
Try buying a new food every time every time you do a shop. How about some Buddha's hand or Screwpine?
3. Celebrate silly things.
There are all sorts of holidays & national days happening every day that you probably don’t even know about- sign up to National Day Calendar to get daily emails & ideas on what to celebrate, this will definitely make life more interesting. National Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day, anyone?
4. Unleash your inner sloth
Sometimes life gets a little too busy and rushed, so take the time to slow it down and chill munch leaves- stress is no good thing, right?
5. Switch off
Set aside time where you don’t touch another key- unless it’s a piano. Develop a new skill, sketch, sing or dance.
6. Get lost
Delete google maps, take off your watch and prepare yourself to lose track of time and location. In this modern world, we have become too reliant on technology to help us, show the world you don't need it!
7. Mess up your routine
Give your daily routine a gentle shake. Jot down 20 things that you’ve never done and tick them all off before the year's out. Try working at night or instead of going to COSTA again, go to the place with the lowest ratings- find something they do really well & share it with everyone.
8. Surround yourself with people who are completely different from you
Instead of hanging out with those you are like try talking to someone who is the opposite to you- you’ll learn a lot more from it.
9. Do something that scares you
If you hate heights do skydiving, if you hate spiders hold a tarantula. Attack those fears then brag about it later.
Share this with someone else who has hit an idea plateau.
